Get Involved - Volunteer Opportunities

We had a lot of people sign up to help out with many areas that are needed to get our school year rolling and we thank you for that.......however, there are still a few key coordinator positions that we are hoping to fill.  These opportunities are such great ways to meet more people at Wyatt, help our school out, and have fun all at the same time.  We have many resources to help you get started and many volunteers ready to support you.  We hope you'll join us!

  • Fall Picnic: Plan a family picnic to be held in early September. Organize a small committee to assist with the event. Some summer work will be required to prepare for this event since it happens just after we arrive back to school. Chairman will handle publicity, food, registration and volunteers.
  • 5th Grade Colonial Day Coordinator: Work with the 5th grade teachers to give students the opportunity to experi-ence life in the colonies. Project plans and student activity ideas will be provided. Last year’s coordinator can provide training as needed.
  • 5th Grade Immigration Day Coordinator: Work with 5th grade staff to help students feel what it was like for immi-grants coming through Ellis Island. Event held in May. Project plans and “how-tos” provided.
  • Art Coordinator: Help the Art teacher hang student art work throughout the halls and organize volunteers to help prep art materials for Mrs. Hambleton.
  • Book Fair Chairman: Responsible for organizing one book fair. Must handle all communication with company, set-up the book fair, organize communications through YO packets and the newsletter, organize and coordinate all volunteers. Have already secured volunteers to help with Wish List and scheduling volunteers.
  • Health Concerns & Youth Safety: Work with PE staff to promote health & safety programs, and organizing the McGruff Safety program.

We also need volunteers with a passion for fundraising and planning social events.  If you are interested or have any questions, please contact the PTA President

Your Time Counts!

Please help us keep track of the hours you spend volunteering at Wyatt.  Each time you volunteer, please record your volunteer activity and the amount of time spent on the yellow cards in the main office.  If you are doing volunteer work for Wyatt at home, be sure to record those hours too.  The better we keep track of hours, the more credit we earn at Wyatt for our valuable time.  It's that easy and the rewards for our district could mean the difference between receiving a grant or not!
